Recent project
Restoring original features in a period home
After recently moving into their period property, our client asked us to restore a number of original features hidden beneath layers of paint — window shutters, shutter frames, doors and fireplaces.
To give the best result, we used a combination of on-site and workshop restoration: the shutters and doors were carefully removed and brought to our workshop for specialist treatment, while the shutter frames and fireplaces were stripped on site. The work revealed the original character and detail of these period features, transforming the property — and the client kindly left us an excellent review.

Assessment
We start by assessing each item — timber type, prior repairs, hardware and condition — to determine the best stripping method and flag anything that needs special care.

Collection
No transport headaches. We collect from your door at a previously agreed date and time, for a flat £30.

Paint removal
Items are lowered into a warm caustic solution for 30–45 minutes to lift away every layer of paint, then pressure-washed to clear the residue.

Neutralising
Once stripped, each piece is neutralised to remove any remaining agent and prevent future paint or timber problems down the line.

Drying & sanding — optional
We dry the items in a controlled environment and sand them smooth, ready for you to apply the finish of your choice.

Wax or oil finish — optional
We offer a wax or oil finish to protect the wood and bring out its natural grain.
07
Quality inspection
Every piece is checked against our standards before it leaves the workshop — nothing goes back until we're happy with it.

Delivery
We return your restored items promptly, ready to go straight back where they belong.

Yes. We offer a collection and delivery service for a flat charge of £30 across a wide area in England. Please get in touch if you are unsure whether we cover your area — most probably we do.
Interior doors from £35. Exterior doors, radiators, fireplaces, window shutters and furniture are priced on a free quote. Please get in touch for a fast free quote.
Processing times are usually around 7 working days from collection.
Veneered and plywood items aren't recommended for dip stripping as they are prone to warping and can be damaged by the process. They can still be hand-stripped if required. Water-based painted items can't be dipped either and must be hand-stripped, which incurs a different rate. Please get in touch for more information.
Oak, walnut and mahogany may darken during the stripping process. Some doors may also have been primed with a water-based or acrylic undercoat directly onto bare wood; the top layers of paint come off but the undercoat may remain. We offer a hand stripping service for these cases — please contact us for more information.
Glass panelled doors and items can be stripped; however, due to the nature of the process there is a slight risk of the glass cracking. Our workshop team takes extra care and time with glass panels, and in most cases they come out in excellent condition. Any glass left in doors or furniture is done so entirely at the customer's own risk.
